Heart O’ Texas and Golden Triangle Line ASCS Gulf South Weekend

TULSA, Okla. (May 3, 2016) Returning to the competition this weekend, the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Southern Trailer Works will make their 2016 debut at the Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas on Friday, May 6, followed the recently added stop at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas on Saturday, May 7.
Seeking his first win of the 2016 season, Tommy Bryant leads the way in the Sawblade.com No. 28 by a narrow two point margin over Scottie McDonald with each posting two top-five, and four top-ten finishes in the season’s first five events. Only eight points removed from the lead, five time ASCS Gulf South Champion, Ray Allen Kulhanek, holds third with 2014 champion, Channin Tankersley, currently fourth, only 10 points behind Bryant. Rounding out the top-five in Travis Rilat, only 22 points back.
Dustin Gates in the Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 17 is sixth with Michael McNeil seventh. Zane Lawrence, Jacob Lucas, and J.J. Simmons make up the top-ten.
Paying honor to Gordon Woolley, The 12th annual Gordon Woolley Classic at the Heart O’ Texas Speedway on Friday, May 6 opens at 6:00 P.M. with racing getting underway at 8:00 P.M. (CT). The night’s lineup also includes IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Southern Sport Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, Factory Stocks, and Jr. Minis and is the first of a three night series at the Heart O’ Texas Speedway presented by Waco Metals that culminates in the top-10 point earners in the three races splitting a $3,000 point fund. Added to the 2016 lineup after the sudden closing of the Bronco Raceway Park, Saturday, May 7 at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park opens at 5:30 P.M. with racing at 7:45 P.M. (CT). Limited Modifieds and Mod Lites will join the Saturday lineup. Free children’s tickets will be given with every Mother that comes to the front gate.
