"Set it Off " season opener filled with action and we plan to continue that as we welcome in the Top Gun Sprints next

Season opener didn't start off as planned as we had a cell come thru and drop a pretty significant amount of rain around 4:15 - 4:30. Cleared out pretty quick, but it left a lot of work to do for the track crew to get the track race ready. They did a super job getting the track in shape.
Once track prep was complete, hotlaps followed ,then hotlap qualifying, to set the feature lineups.
604's began the night, with Haiden Cowan setting fast time and sitting on the pole for the feature. From the front row, 2nd starting David Whitener took the lead going into turn 2 and never looked bag leading flag to flag. 11th place starting Mark Whitener finished 2nd, followed by Hunter Peacock, Kam Boyd and Trynt Lloyd.
Street Stocks had Donnie Bazemore sitting on the pole. 2nd place starting Jared Jones took the lead by turn 2 and led the first 8 until he broke, Joshua Nelms then took the point for a couple laps and then had to battle Andrew Stone for a handfull of laps of side by side racing , eventually Andrew Stone cleared the 77 and led the remaining laps for the win. Joshua Nelms finished 2nd followed by Tyler Davis , Branden Yawn and Donnie Bazemore.
602 division fast time and pole sitter was Matthew Chaney.
Lap 1 coming out of turn 2 , Johnny Collins took the lead, led the first 9 laps until something broke on a restart. Scott Waters took the lead from there, with alot of positions changing from 2nd to about 10th, with a really good battle between Bubba Roling and Jackson Hise. Jackson Hise ended up getting 2nd, followed by Bubba Roling, Kole Platt and rounding out the top 5, 11th place starting Trey Mills.
SuperStreet had some familiar names up front with Donnie Durrance setting fast time and on the pole and Mack Williams outside. Dillion Durrance took the lead from the drop of the green flag, Mack Williams and Jamie Whitaker took turns with 2nd place, eventually Jamie Whitaker took over 2nd place followed by Mack Williams, Donnie Durrance and Brian Grantham.
Enduro qualifying had Tanner Reich setting the pace and on the pole.
Jared Jones had the outside working and took over the top spot coming out of 2 and would go on to lead the entire race. Tanner Reich would stay close on restarts but the 16 was on his own. Russell waters ended up 2nd, followed by John Carlino in 3rd, Tanner Reich ended up 4th and Dylan Litchfield completed the top 5.
Final race of the night was the Crown Vic class. Tony Bromley set fast time and started on the pole. First couple laps were lead by the 5 car, eventually overtaken by Chase Litchfield, who lead most of it. The most entertaining part was the 8 car of Adam Chambers, clearly the fastest car and every time he made it to the front was spun out, 3 times, spent a number of laps nose to tail and side by side with the 99 . Contact on a restart had the 8 getting spun again, call was made to give him his spot back and he eventually won.
2nd was Daniel Bromley,3rd -Chase Litchfield, 4th - Jason Frame and 5th was Chase Ammons.
Outstanding night of racing for our season opener, great turnout of cars with the possibility of weather coming, and plenty of 2,3 and 4 wide racing in all classes.
Thanks to all that came out, fans ,race teams and a big thanks to the GIS staff for the extra effort to make this all happen.
We hope to see you back here Saturday April 8th , Spring of Sprints event , with the TOP GUN Sprints rolling into GIS , also running Enduros, Street Stocks and SuperStreet.
Friday April 7th will be and open practice from 7-1030.
