Shakedown: Super Late Models Return to Georgetown Speedway Thursday, April 13

GEORGETOWN, DE – Time for a shakedown.

The Super Late Models make their 2023 debut at Georgetown Speedway this Thursday night (April 13) in a shakedown for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series invasion later this month.

Honoring a staple of Delaware racing, the Mark ‘Coot Williams Memorial is set for 26 laps, $3,026 to win and $260 to take the green flag.

Rick Eckert of York, Pa., is the most recent Super Late Model winner at Georgetown and is expected to attend on Thursday.

Both Super Late Models and First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models will take to the revamped four-tenths-mile oval for the first time.

The Thursday special is the first leg of the Stockley Speed Supply Super Late Model Series involving Georgetown, Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Del., and Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, Md. A $12,000-plus point fund will be paid at the conclusion of the series thanks to Stockley Speed Supply in Georgetown.

Super Late Models will time trial within their heat-race groups in hot laps. The top-six drivers will redraw for the 26-lap feature.

The tire rule is as follows: Hoosier 1300 or harder; Hoosier NLMT2 or harder; American Racer 44 or harder. Minimum weight is 2,300 lbs., with driver, post-race. AMB transponders will be utilized. One-way radio is 454.000.

Restarts will be double-file in heat races and double-file until five laps remaining in the 26-lap feature.

Joining the Super Late Models will be the Hovis RUSH Late Model Series in the second of four ‘Battle of the Bay events paying $3,000 to the winner for 30 laps. The RUSH Late Model contingent competes at Delaware International Wednesday, Georgetown Thursday, Potomac Friday and Va.s Winchester Speedway Saturday.

Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers will all compete in 12-lap features.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates unlock at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:20 p.m., with racing at 7:15 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $22 for Adults, $18 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17), $10 for Kids ages 9-12 and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $40 for Adults (ages 13 and up), $35 for NASCAR members, $10 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 for Children ages 5 and under.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
