Deron Rust Memorial Up Next at Georgetown Speedway Friday, June 4

GEORGETOWN, DE – One of Georgetown Speedways greatest proponents will be honored on Friday, June 4 with the annual running of the Deron Rust Memorial.
The Chesapeake Paving-sponsored Modifieds headline the 2021 edition of the ‘Deron Rust Memorial, going 33-laps for $3,960-to-win and $300 to take the green flag.
Deron Rust was a former racer and promoter at Georgetown Speedway, keeping the southern Delaware half-mile raceway afloat on a limited budget during a challenging time in the speedways history.
The Rust family continues to play a major role in the operations of the speedway, keeping Derons memory alive.
The ‘396 number which appeared on Derons race car will be prominent throughout the night.
Joining the Chesapeake Paving Modifieds on the docket are the Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman in their first appearance at the speedway since March competing in a 20-lap main paying $1,396 to the winner.
The Delmarva Chargers, Delaware Super Trucks, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, and Little Lincolns will also be in attendance all participating in 12-lap features.
For the June 4 event, pit gates open at 4 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m. Hot laps are set to begin at 6:20 p.m. and racing following at 7:15 p.m.
Adult admission is $20, while Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) are $16. $10 admission for Kids (ages 9-12) and children 8 and under get in FREE.
Pit Admission is $35 for adults (ages 13 and up). $10 for Kids (ages 6-12) and $2 for Children ages 5 and under.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
