Dramatic World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series Point Battle Arrives At Georgetown Speedway August 16
GEORGETOWN, DE – A dramatic championship battle is underway on the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series.
And Georgetown Speedway is the national tours next destination.
This Thursday (August 16), the WoO Late Model contingent hits the Georgetown banked half-mile for the ‘Fulton Bank 40 offering $10,000 to win and $700 to take the green flag from a total pay structure of more than $40,000!
Entering Thursday night, Chris Madden (4,296 points) leads Mike Marlar (4,272) by just 24 points in the race for the series championship. Defending champion Brandon Sheppard, in the Rocket Chassis house car, is third with 4,262 points, only 34 removed from the lead.
Madden has won on six occasions this season; Marlar four; and Sheppard a WoO-leading 11 times.
Devin Moran, who won the Georgetown ‘Fulton Bank 40 10k last year, is fourth with 4,086 points and Shane Clanton, the highest-ranked driver without a win, is fifth with 4,038 points.
Currently sixth through 10th, respectively, are Pennsylvanias Rick Eckert (3,982), Chase Junghans (3,902) Tyler Erb (3,888), David Breazeale (3,746) and Brent Larson (3,706). Breazeale and Larson are currently the top rookies on the circuit.
On Thursday night, the WoO will come 40 laps closer to crowing its 2018 champion.
Joining the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Models on the card are the Delaware Super Trucks, Delmarva Chargers and Little Lincolns.
Pit gates are scheduled to open at 3 p.m. Grandstand gates will be unlocked at 4 p.m. Hot laps begin at 6:45 p.m. Qualifying gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
Pricing is as follows: $30 for Adults; Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $25; Kids (ages 9-12) pay $15. Children 8 and under are FREE.
Pit admission is $40 (ages 13 and up). Kids 6-12 pay $20. Children 5 and under pay $2.
Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
