Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (April 26, 2022) – Greg Wilson earned his first feature triumph of the season last Saturday at Fremont Speedway, where he guided the Seeling Motorsports No. 97 into Victory Lane.

The win was Wilson’s 14th career at the track, moving him into a tie for 43rd on the all-time victories list. It was also the first-ever trip into the Winner’s Circle with the All Pro Aluminum Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group for the Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics backed driver.

“With the travel expenses and everything else, to drive six and a half hours one way for one race last weekend financially wasn’t smart for our team,” he said. “When the World of Outlaws cancelled Friday’s show the choice was to go to Attica and then Fremont on Saturday. It was close to the shop and we could get two races in.”

The decision paid off as Wilson improved throughout the doubleheader, beginning on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio. He qualified seventh quickest in his group before hustling from seventh to fourth in a heat race and from 14th to sixth in the main event.

“We were in the first group of cars out in qualifying and the track was a little greasy,” he said. “It got better as it went so that part bit us a little. We also took a different car and package so it was a combination of things. We were lucky to pass some cars in the heat and transfer through, which I felt was huge. Then our car got better and I got better as the feature went on. Attrition got us a few spots, too. The track stayed good and it was hard to pass. We tried a lot of stuff with the car and didn’t have a handle on it, but to salvage sixth from 14th was great.”

The team took a different car to Fremont Speedway on Saturday. Wilson was fourth quickest in his group and he won both a heat race and the A Main from the pole.

“After Friday with it getting over late and some of the stuff we were questioning we decided to take the other car we ran the previous week at Attica,” he said. “Andy (Potter) did a whale of a job. We hot lapped good and qualified decent. We started on the front row and won our heat race. We were really good. Then my daughters drew the pole for the feature.

“I told Andy that if I get the lead and pace myself, until someone shows me a nose or a different part of the track I’m going to cruise. Cole (Macedo) got around the outside of us and got the lead for a little around midway. We moved up and when he made a mistake a couple of laps later we got around him. We had to get up there and bounce with him. You had to run right through the holes. Andy had the car really good. It was pretty cool to win on that type of a track.”

With momentum on his side, Wilson is aiming to compete with the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions this Friday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa.; Saturday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio; and Sunday at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio.

“We’re feeling pretty good about the direction we have going on,” he said. “We have a few things to work on so we can have a little more depth. We’ve run the one car and engine package and we’ve been really good. We need to work on some depth with another car and engine package. Other than that we’re pretty excited. We have a lot of racing, hopefully, coming up.”
