FREMONT, Ohio – A sprint car team that has graced Ohio dirt track pit areas for numerous years competed in their final event this weekend. Cap Henry hit the track at Fremont Speedway on Friday and Saturday at the wheel of the Genzman Racing Enterprises No. 53. The Bellevue, Ohio driver guided it to the checkered flag in fourth on night one of the Jim Ford Classic, but was held to a 17th-place result on Saturday.

A perpetual front-runner at Fremont this season, Henry was forecast to continue his strong finishes, though the All Star Circuit of Champions were highlighting the list of competitors. 37 strong assembled for night one, and he found himself in a hole early. Qualifying 29th overall slated him to start heat three from the seventh position. Henry quickly rebounded to finish fourth and earn a transfer to the main event.

For the 30-lap preliminary feature, Henry’s qualifying time lined him up outside of row eight. The beginning of the event was a tedious hike to the front; Henry attained 11th rather quickly but as the field began to spread out, passing became exceedingly difficult. A lap-12 caution didn’t aid his charge, and with 10 laps remaining, the No. 53 still sat just outside the top ten. When the leader and second place tangled on lap 21 and two consecutive cautions emerged on the restart, Henry restarted in sixth with seven laps remaining. Nabbing one spot when the green waved for the final time, Henry positioned himself inside the top five. A strong final lap allowed him to overtake Snohomish, Wash. racer Gary Taylor for fourth before reaching the finish line.

Night two again hosted 37 entries, but this time, Henry’s qualifying run proved much better. 10th overall put him just outside the invert for group two, so he’d start fifth in the second heat. The quick green-to-checkered affair didn’t offer Henry any gain in position, but finishing in the fifth and final transfer spot still secured a feature start.

The Jim Ford Classic main event, a 50-lap race paying $10,000 to the winner, lined Henry up in the 18th starting position. Hopeful to repeat the power run of the previous night, the vision quickly became harder when an opening-lap mishap shuffled Henry back to 23rd in the running order. It would take nearly half the race to ascend back to the 18th position. Trouble on lap 28 again plagued the efforts of the three-time winner this season. Clawing back through the field from 21st, Henry made his final pass for position on lap 42 to net a 17th-place finish. “Definitely not the ending I wanted for the 53,” Henry accentuated.

Henry would like to send a special thanks to Marilyn Genzman and her team for the opportunity to drive their car throughout the 2015 campaign. Henry would also like to thank Level Performance, J&J Auto Racing, OC Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Simpson Race Products, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, HMS Speedways & Hobbies, Handy Grafix, and Kear's Speed Shop as well as his family and all of his great fans for their continued support.

Henry is next scheduled to compete at the “Four-Crown Nationals” on September 25 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio with the World of Outlaws, and on September 26 at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio and on September 27 at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio, both with the All Star Circuit of Champions and all in the Coomer Motorsports No. 21 410ci winged sprint entry.
