Dale McDowell wins $2,500 non-qualifier feature at Florence

On Thursday afternoon, Shane McDowell Racing visited Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) with Dale McDowell piloting the E-Z-GO No. 17m Late Model for the Sunoco North-South Shootout. Drawing 46 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, McDowell came in ninth fastest in his group before placing fifth in his heat. Needing a fourth-place finish or better in his B-Main to make the $10,000-to-win preliminary feature, Dale pulled off from the 10-lapper with two circuits remaining. (Heath Lawson photo)

On Friday evening for a pair of heat races, Dale recorded a pair of fourth-place finishes, relegating him into the B-Main on Saturday for one final shot at the $50,000-to-win North/South 100.

Locking in the Top 3, McDowell got collected with another car on the opening lap that resulted in a flat tire, dropping him to fifth when the checkered flag flew. Earning a spot into the non-qualifiers feature, Dale outran James Rice to pocket the $2,000 prize.
