We're Getting Ready for Racing again!

Happy New Year everyone, and welcome to 2021, the most highly anticipated New Year anyone can remember. Before we get too far on what’s to come, let’s reflect back briefly, on where we’ve been. To say 2020 was a strange year, certainly doesn’t do justice to all that was. Less than 48 hours before our 2020 season was set to open here at FFS last March, Covid-19 became a reality that no one could have possibly imagined. It literally changed the way we live, work, and play.  People made more life changing adjustments in 2020 than were expected in a lifetime. Here locally, in our little piece of the world, we adjusted the schedule, changed some events and the way we ran them, and on December 6th completed the 2020 racing season at the 53rd Annual Snowball Derby. A gigantic Thank You goes out here, to our great competitors, and to the most loyal Race Fans anywhere, for making 2020 a year to remember.

2021……….while we all hoped for a fresh new start, reality is that Covid-19 is not yet gone. Things will continue to be a bit different. But we have discovered that, with some ingenuity and creativity, we can make things interesting. We can, and we will! An exciting season is set to kick off here at Five Flags Speedway with an earlier date for this years ARCA Pensacola 200. February 27th the ARCA East stars will return, just 2 weeks after their season opener in Daytona. The Vores Compact Touring Series will also be a part of ARCA weekend. These guys were already on site last March when the event was postponed, so we’re planning to really roll out the Southern Hospitality for them upon their return. The VCTS guys will put on a race that promises to have fans buzzing. The Lloyd’s Glass Pure Stocks will round out the race card, with their own version of the 2021 season opener.

The Sweat Hogg Grand Prix has a new date this year as well, moved to March 20th, to accommodate a MAV TV Broadcast of the race. A tape delayed broadcast on this national network, via Lucas Oil’s “On The Edge show, will cast the Sweat Hogg Grand Prix into the national spotlight.

Our 2021 regular season will continue, beginning on Good Friday, April 2nd, and culminate on Saturday Night October 2nd. In between, some never seen before events, the anticipated return of Winged Sprint Cars, a Super Late Model Doubleheader weekend, and much more. And of course, it all leads up to the 54th Annual Snowball Derby, scheduled for December 2nd thru 6th.

2021 Season Tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks. ARCA tickets may be purchased now by calling the ARCA Ticket Hotline @ 850-941-4343. Snowball Derby Ticket renewal forms will be in your mailbox around the first of April.

2021 is here, and we’re planning to make the most of it. Hope to see ya at the races!!
