Battery Power Takes It To the Track

Emerald Coast Electrathon Classic 120 is Saturday April 16th.  The classic has attracted 13 teams with 20 student and adulelectrathont built Electrathon electric cars for this years event. The cars are built by high school and college students as well adults still wanting to race with 73 pounds battery power.
The one who has the car that completes the most laps in 120 minutes is the overall winner. There are two 60 minute segments.
Not speed, but distance. Crank in who can make a vehicle slice thru the air, with minimum air resistance, and efficiency in power consumption will all factor in.
Entries from Florida, Alabama and Georgia will include high schools plus an open class for colleges and adults.  It is free to watch in the grandstands, and is presented by the Gulf Power Engineering Society, in cooperation with Five Flags Speedway.
Other sponsors include the Northwest Florida Clean Cities Coalition, Northwest Florida America Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers Society(ASHRAE) and the Northwest Florida Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Society (IEEE).
First race begins at 10 am with the second race at 2 PM.
