Unzicker records a pair of Top-5 finishes in opening weekend
The 2022 season got underway for Ryan Unzicker on Friday afternoon at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) aboard his R.J.R. Transportation No. 24 MB Custom Late Model. Following the fourth-fastest qualifying effort, Ryan jumped up one spot in his heat race to place third. With $1,000 on the line in the feature, Unzicker carried a steady pace throughout the 25-lapper to finish third. He trailed Mike Spatola and Kevin Weaver to the checkers.
On Saturday night at Peoria Speedway (Peoria, Ill.) for the Garry Swibold Memorial, Unzicker’s third-place finish in his heat race positioned him on the fourth row for the $5,098-to-win A-Main. Clawing forward three spots in the 50-lap affair, Ryan posted a fifth-place finish, which came behind Justin Reed, Todd Bennett, Rusty Schlenk, and Mike Spatola.
