Inside Line Promotions – FRANKLIN, Pa. (Aug. 2, 2016) – Caleb Helms charged to one of his top performances of the season last weekend with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

Helms kicked off a weekend tripleheader last Friday when he made his debut at Eriez Speedway in Erie, Pa.

“We weren’t very good in qualifying and had a really tough heat race,” he said. “Half the guys who finished in front of me made the dash.”

Helms timed in 15th quickest during qualifying before he finished where he started – eighth – in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the 11th row for the main event.

“We made some adjustments and it felt pretty good,” he said. “We got it dialed in and I was able to pass some cars. I had to search for a little at times. Off the bat I picked off some cars. It got tough for a little while racing with a couple of guys. I was really good in the middle and that’s where a lot of people weren’t running.”

Helms powered from 22nd to earn a sixth-place finish, which also garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

Saturday’s event at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pa., and the weekend wrapped up on Sunday at Tri-City Raceway Park. Helms qualified 17th quickest before placing fifth in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the ninth row for the main event.

“A couple of guys were making it work higher up, but it was around the bottom for the most part,” he said. “At the end of the feature I had a good car. I just wasn’t patient and that track was hard to pass on the outside. You had to be really good to pass up there. We were back to 20th at one time and we got a few cars back. In hindsight I could have battled for a top 10 if I would have been more patient on the bottom.”

Helms ended with a 14th-place result.
