Dancer’s Mechanical Misfortune Takes Away a Potential Podium Finish

Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 22, 2018) – Shawn Dancer and his team watched Mother Nature claim their Friday night show at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio. Thankfully, they were still able to run on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway with the K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invaders.

“We qualified sixth, which started us third in our heat race,” Dancer said. “The car felt pretty good and we snagged a second-place finish.”

That earned a spot in the feature redraw and Dancer drew the No. 3 to start third in the 25-lap A Main.

“We were running really well,” he said. “We fell back to fourth at one point, but quickly made our way back up to third place.”

Dancer ran third for most of the race, using the multiple restarts to catch up with the leaders.

“Once we caught up to them, we battled for the lead for a lap or two,” he said. “On one of the restarts we ended up breaking the rear end and getting run over. I’m pretty bummed because I think we had a good chance to win.”

Like many drivers, Eldora Speedway is a track on Dancer’s bucket list of where he wants to win.

“The opportunity was there, but it wasn’t in the cards,” he said. “We finished 12th, but overall it wasn’t that bad. We got our motor back from Paul and it ran well. Hopefully this weekend will be better.”

Dancer hurt his 410ci sprint car at Eldora and hopes to get it back in time for the busy Memorial Day Weekend. He is scheduled to compete Friday at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio, and Sunday at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, with the K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invaders. He will possibly race with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions on Sunday at Waynesfield Raceway Park as well as Monday at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind., with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
