Tyler Erb
Podium finish in third round of Winter Nationals at East Bay
Tyler Erb was one of 70 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on hand at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.) on Monday afternoon to kick off six rounds of the Wrisco Winternationals. After missing a transfer spot by one position in his heat, Erb pulled off early in his B-Main with a provisional already secured. On Wednesday evening after Mother Nature axed Tuesday’s program, Tyler laid down the third-fastest time in his group before placing second in his heat. With $7,000 on the line in the feature, Erb worked his way into the top-five early and was running in second when a late-race restart dropped him to third. He followed Brandon Sheppard and Ashton Winger across the line.
For another $7,000-to-win A-Main on Thursday, Erb was forced to take a provisional into the show after missing a transfer spot in his heat race and B-Main. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Tyler improved 18 positions in the 40-lapper to finish seventh.
On Friday, Tyler came in fifth in his heat before placing second in his B-Main but was penalized for not reporting to the scales immediately. Starting the feature in 26th via a provisional, Erb was an early retiree on lap 34.
Wrapping up the Wrisco Winternationals on Saturday, Erb followed up the fifth-fastest lap in his group with an eight-lap heat race win. With $15,000 on the line in the feature, Tyler gained one spot to register a second-place finish. He trailed Devin Moran to the checkers with Mark Whitener, Tanner English, and Brandon Overton rounding out the Top-5.
Tyler is currently in fourth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
