Wrisco Winternationals begins at East Bay

Shane Clanton returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Monday evening at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida) for the 44th annual Wrisco Winternationals. Drawing a stout field of 62 cars for the six-day event, Clanton fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a 4th place finish. Streaking to a 12-lap consolation victory, Shane locked into the 19th-starting position for the opening night feature. With $5,000 on the line, Shane Clanton improved six spots to place 13th.

For the third round on Wednesday evening, Clanton edged his way into the main event with the 3rd and final transfer spot in his heat race. Rolling off 16th, Shane advanced through the field eight spots to reel in an 8th place finish.

On Thursday night, Shane scored a 3rd place finish in his heat which positioned him 14th on the starting grid for the $7,000-to-win A-Main. Holding his spot for all 40-laps, Clanton registered a 14th place finish.

Following the ninth fastest lap in his time trial group on Friday, Clanton scored a runner-up finish in his heat behind Tim McCreadie. Losing four spots in the 50-lap feature, Shane logged a 16th place outing.

Wrapping up the 44th annual Wrisco Winternationals on Saturday, Shane came in fifth fastest in his qualifying group before capturing a 10-lap heat race victory. With $12,000 on the line in the feature, Clanton dropped two spots to place 5th behind Brandon Sheppard, Devin Moran, Tyler Erb, and Brian Shirley.

On Sunday afternoon Clanton was one of 34 LOLMDS entries that stopped at All-Tech Raceway (Lake City, Florida) for the $10,000-to-win Winter Nationals. Recording a 3rd place finish in his heat, Shane earned the 11th-starting position for the feature. Breaking into the Top-5, Shane Clanton passed seven cars to register a 4th place finish behind Jonathan Davenport, Mike Marlar, and Brandon Sheppard with Jimmy Owens coming in 5th.
