Hanks Opening 2016 Season This Weekend at Ronald Laney Memorial

Inside Line Promotions – BURLISON, Tenn. (Feb. 16, 2016) – It has been a long offseason for Brandon Hanks, who hasn’t competed in approximately three months.

“It’s always tough to sit for a few months, especially when you feel like you ended the previous season on a positive note,” he said. “You just want to keep racing so to take three months off has been hard on my patience.”

Hanks, who is coming off a career-best season with more podium finishes, top fives and top 10s than in any other season, will kick off the 2016 campaign this Thursday through Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla., for the $10,000-to-win Ronald Laney Memorial.

“I’m very excited to get the season underway,” he said. “The Ronald Laney Memorial is a prestigious event so it’d be great if we could start out the year strong. I know there will be a lot of great teams there so we’ll give it our best shot and see where we stack up for the first race of the year.”

Hanks used last year’s event as a testing session that didn’t return the results he hoped for. However, following a solid 2015 season that included switching to a different chassis, Hanks said he anticipates having his best-ever Ronald Laney Memorial this weekend.

“I feel confident heading into this weekend,” he said. “This will be our third straight year at the event and we’ve learned more and more each time we have been there. If we can get a decent draw and a good handle on the race car early we’ll be in good shape.”
