Hartmann fills notebook in Beaver Dam Outlaws twinbill, targets IRA Fairbury tilt
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 21, 2023 – Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing team took advantage of an opportunity to race with and learn from the best of the best in the Winged 410 Sprint Car world, during a pair of NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Series events at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17.
With 22 World of Outlaws 410 Sprint Cars checked in on Friday, June 16, Hartmann clocked in 17th overall with a lap of 11.966 seconds around the third-mile high-banked clay oval.
Hartmann lined up sixth in the second 10-lap heat race and held the spot along the low groove of the lightning fast track surface to register a sixth place showing.
After rolling off 17th in the 30-lap World of Outlaws main event, Hartmann clung to the inside lane of the fast and tacky track surface throughout the duration of the race to post a 20th place finish in a race won by Gio Scelzi.
With 24 cars checked in for the $20,000-to-win Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial two-night weekend finale, Hartmann again qualified 17th with a lap of 11.798 seconds.
The fourth-year Sprint Car competitor started sixth and finished seventh in the second 10-lap heat race before lining up 20th in the in the 40-lap main event. Hartmann stayed consistent throughout the main event to secure a second-straight 20th place A-main showing in a race won by Sheldon Haudenschild.
“We’re close I feel, but we’re still learning,” Hartmann said. “I’m excited to make some changes for the IRA race at Fairbury this upcoming weekend.”
The Plymouth, Wis. driver is set to resume the 2023 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series schedule for the $7,000-to-win IRA-Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) co-sanctioned Bill Waite Jr. Memorial Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Ill. on Saturday, June 24.
The Fairbury American Legion Speedway program on Saturday, June 24 will also feature FALS Cup DIRTcar Late Models and DIRTcar Modifieds.
Pit gates open at 12 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 2 p.m., followed by hot laps/qualifying at 6 p.m. and racing at 7:15 p.m.
