Kyle Schuett 2021 Season Preview

Illinois native Kyle Schuett has formed quite the resume so far in his young career. A victory at the Inaugural Indy Indoor Midget Invitational, 2015 Powri and National Midget Rookie of the Year, 2019 MOWA Sprints Rookie of the Year, and multiple wins and top 5 finishes in Powri National Midget competition including a win at the famed Ironman 55 in Pevely, MO. Schuett has found success over multiple disciplines and series so far, and doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon, with another Rookie of the Year campaign on tap with the ultra-competitive Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Outlaw Sprints in the upper midwest.

The IRA has produced some fantastic talent and has played host to countless top level drivers who have found success in the series, such as California’s Rico Abreu, Carson Macedo and Kyle Larson, Iowa’s Terry and Austin McCarl, USAC standouts Chase Stockon and Hunter Schurenberg, Australian aces Lynton Jeffrey and Brooke Tatnell, “true outlaws” Justin Henderson and Josh Schneiderman, and homegrown talent like Scotty Thiel, Blake Nimee, Jordan Goldesberry, 2020 Rookie of the Year Sean Rayhall, 2x Champion Scotty Neitzel, 2018 Champ Jake Blackhurst, 2015 Champion Jeremy Schultz, and of course 10x Series Champion Bill Balog. With this type of talent competing each and every week on tracks across the upper midwest, Schuett is in for a tough test of mettle both mentally and physically, but the 9K team believes they are up to the task.

Several races with the IRA last season convinced Schuett to make the switch to the Wisconsin based series in 2021.

“We didn’t get an Illinois race until July, so we were sort of forced to look to outside competition to fill our schedule.” Kyle said about his 2020 year, “We really liked the people with the IRA. Everyone is very genuine and they all work on their own stuff, the drivers respect you and race very clean, The guys are just, real and we enjoyed being around everyone,”

Schuett recorded 2 top 10 finishes, 2 heat race wins and markedly improved over the season with the IRA in 2020, and the team plans to chase podiums and wins with the series in 2021 When asked if he had any dates circled on the calendar where the team could capitalize on these goals, Schuett had a quick and firm answer; the ? mile bullring at Plymouth and the massive “Horsepower Half Mile” at Dodge County.

“Dodge and Plymouth are the two that stand out for sure.” Schuett said, “We won a heat at both tracks, qualified well and made 2 dashes there as well and were definitely inside the top 5 or 10 best cars there. Those places really gave us a lot of confidence that we can chase a win with the IRA this year.”

Schuett brings some fantastic partners along for his 2021 campaign, including a 6th year returning primary partner in Health Alliance, and longtime supporters Progressive Propane and AMSOIL, as well as Kim’s Autobody, Engler Machine and Tool, R&B Powdercoat, Allstar Performance, Safety Kleen, Diversified Machine Inc. (DMI), Rod End Supply, Hooker Harness, Steve Thomas Racing, and J & K Property Rentals, LLC.

The 9K team will contest the full Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints schedule in 2021, along with several outside shows with the All Star Circuit of Champions, World of Outlaws and more.
