DIS Addresses American Tire Halt

Official Statement from SDM Promotions

On Monday, April 18, 2022, American Racer tires issued a statement that tire production for Dirt Modified tires has been halted until further notice. After conversations with Short Track Super Series officials and local teams, SDM Promotions has made the decision to adjust the schedule of events in efforts to help the Big Block Modified and 602 AC Delco Sportsman Modified teams. With the uncertainty of when product will be available and production to resume, the following schedule changes have been implemented at the Delaware International Speedway:
Tuesday night, April 26, 2022, Short Track Super Series Diamond State 50 Big Block Modified, Crate 602 Sportsman, Delmarva Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.

Thursday night, April 28, 2022, will now be an Open Practice only for all classes. We will postpone the Clash of the Champions race due to the shortage of tires and a later date to be announced.

Friday night, April 29, 2022, Season Opener with USAC Sprints (25 Lap), Super Late Models (25 Lap) $2000 to win, Rush Late Models (20 Lap) $1000 to win, (15 Lap) Mod Lite features along with Delmarva Super Trucks, Delmarva Chargers, Little Lincolns, and Vintage Stock racing series.
(Schedule change will remove the Rent Equip/Party Central Big Block Modifieds and AC Delco 602 Sportsman Modifieds from the original Friday and Saturday schedule of events. There will only be racing on Friday night, April 29, 2022, with these changes.)

Friday night, May 6, 2022, our Rent Equip/Party Central Big Block Modifieds, AC Delco 602 Modifieds will return to action. We will have a (30 Lap) $3K-$5K Rent Equip/Party Central Big Block Modified feature, (20 Lap) $1K AC Delco 602 Sportsman Modified feature along with Delmarva Super Trucks, Delmarva Chargers, Little Lincolns, and Vintage Stock racing series. Also, May 6, 2022, will be Delmar night and “Bring Mom to the Races,� for 1�2 off Spectator admission!

For our race teams and fans, we will continue to monitor the tire situation over the next 90 days to see if American Racer will be able to resume production and fulfill their obligations. We have two dates in August which can be utilized as make dates or used to add additional races for our teams and fans! We appreciate everyone’s patience and teamwork as many tracks and race teams are affected by the shortage.
