SDM Promotions manager, Mark Cathell, feels evaluating the industry around us is important in today’s Motorsports business. Cathell goes on to add, “When you have a track 20 minutes from your backyard, another a couple of hours north, we need to be in line with others. This opens the gates for other race teams to come compete and gives our fans a quality show they are expecting.â€?

We also have to consider the cost of racing. The past several years we have seen costs rising. Some of this the result of the pandemic. Supply and demand are way out of character right now. This has affected both ends of the spectrum. From the cost of running our business as well as the teams to compete.â€? As a result, we made the decision to implement an entry fee for each class. This entry fee will assist us with the increased  purse and to support our points championship fund at the end of the season. Entry fee cost are under discussion and will be released at a later date.

We will increase the purses for the Big Block Modifieds, AC Delco 602 Sportsman and Rush Crate Models.

Big Block Modifieds will now race 25 laps for $2500 to win and $200 to take the green on a weekly basis. We also have some special events planned, with increased laps and payouts. Drivers will also be able to enter the gamblers weekly and add to their winnings! This could likely see a driver take $3500 or even $4500 big check!

This year will offer AC Delco 602 Sportsman and Rush Crate Models an increased purse structure. These two classes will run for $1000 to win with $100 to take the green. We will host the Inaugural Sportsman Nationals on June 10th. This event will consist of a 25 Lap feature and a Champ Show favorite Gamblers added giving a driver the chance to win $1000, $2000 or $3000 with a minimal $50 or $100 gamblers fee.

Big Block Modifieds and AC Delco 602 Sportsman Modifieds will now be able to follow the STSS weight limits and tire packages. This series has gained such a huge following, coupled again with the cost factors, it is in the best interest to follow giving more teams the opportunity to come and race with no added cost to them. Ac Delco 602 Sportsman racers will need a sealed motor to compete. Motors can have GM original, DIS seals or any track designated seal. Inspectors will have the right to tech all motors at anytime. (All rules will be posted before the first race of the season.)

We are still working on the other divisions such as Super Late Models and Mod Lites. We hope to be releasing more information concerning those divisions soon. We will be hosting Super Trucks, Little Lincoln, Delmarva Chargers and Vintage organizations. We love having these support classes as they are all platforms for drivers to step up into other divisions.

The season will kick-off with an open practice for all division on Friday night, April 1. Spectators will be able to watch all divisions for FREE! Pit admission will be $25. Look for more updates coming soon!
