After receiving nearly an inch and a half of rain in the days leading up to last Saturday, a late afternoon shower put the already saturated and partially flooded grounds of Delaware International past the point of no return. With less than an hour before gates opened, and more potential storms looming, track owner Charlie Cathell was forced to pull the plug on the Saturday night program. 

 

With the cancellation of the races also meant the cancellation of the William & Juanita J. Cathell Memorial, and the 2020 Awards presentation. After an in-depth look at the schedule, track officials have decided that this Saturday night was the best option to quickly make up those events. Awards for the 2020 Top 10 points finishers will once again be held in victory lane at 5:30 pm, and the William & Juanita J. Cathell memorial will headline the event. 

 

The Delaware Dirt Modified’s will be racing for some extra cash as it will now pay $2,021 to win, and the remaining positions in the top five will pay a $50 bonus. The feature event will also be bumped to a 30 Lap race, and the winner will be locked into the Delaware Dirt Track Championships in October. 

 

Joining the Delaware Dirt Modifieds on Saturday Night will be the AC Delco PSC Modifieds, RUSH Crate Late Models, Modified Lites, Delaware Super Trucks, and the Southern Delaware Vintage Cars.
