“Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Events!
The COVID-19 pandemic has sent shockwaves through our entire world, shaking up schedules of events from the highest levels of professionals to as far down as a child’s first tee ball game and everything in-between. However, with social distancing measures in place the world is slowly starting to make its way back to how we expected our summer to go with barbecues, state fairs, and you guessed it, Racing! With that sense of normalcy included, we are happy to get back to our previously scheduled events at the US 13 Dragway & Delaware International Speedway. It should be noted that at the time of this article all Social Distancing Guidelines put into place by the State of Delaware for the weekend of 6/6/2020, will continue to be in place until otherwise noted. Those guidelines can be found at the bottom of this article.
On June 12th it will be a special “Friday Night event as Bonus Pay night will finally make its appearance in 2020! The Delaware Dirt Modifieds will see an increase in pay with $2,500 to win and $200 to take the green for their feature event. This modified feature event is sure to be a talent filled field as it will be a 2 night racing special in conjunction with Georgetown Speedway who will be running the Deron Rust Memorial on the following Saturday night. Also, the AC Delco Modifieds and RUSH Crate Models will get in on the extra cash up for grabs as their divisions will pay $500 to win and $50 to take the green! Modified Lites, Delaware Super Trucks, and Delmarva Chargers will also be on hand to take part in the Friday Night Lights special event! Gates will open at 5, with cars hitting the track around 6:30.
As a part of the agreement for opening with the State of Delaware those social distancing measures are still in place as well as, masks must be worn by all spectators at both facilities, fans must socially distance when entering/exit any part of the facility with other spectators, and groups of fans who are not of the same household shall be socially distanced by at least 6 feet in all spectator seating areas. This will be enforced by track officials.
