ELLIOTT AND LINGO NOTCH WINS ON SR PETE & SONS NIGHT DOUBLE HEADER

ELLIOTT NOTCHES ANOTHER WIN IN DELAWARE

LINGO ENDS MORE THAN YEAR LONG DROUGHT IN S.R. PETE & SONS SUPER LATE MODELS

Delmar, DE- Ricky Elliott defended Dylan Evans to capture the 20-lap make-up S.R. Pete & Sons Super Late Model feature event. The event did not complete a lap before weather approached weeks ago. Prior to the first lap being completed, Donald Lingo, Jr., and Herb Tunis tangled in turns one and two. Rain would saturate the track and no laps would be completed before the race was called. The two would start at the rear of the line-up for the make-up event.

It would feel like déjà vu for Lingo and Tunis, as Kellie Lewis spun in turns one and two, collecting the two from the rear, again. Lingo would end this feature on the hook, as Tunis could proceed.

Dylan Evans would continue his competitive season and jump to an early lead with Ricky Elliott following into second. By halfway, the two would meet lapped traffic, as Elliott would begin working the topside. Elliott became even with Evans on the top of the racetrack and drag raced down the straightaway, finally completing the pass on lap 11. Evans would continue to challenge on the bottom of the racetrack but could not pull past the strength of the No. 85.

Ricky Elliott remained unchallenged with Evans, Kevin Scott, Jr., Amanda Whaley and Herb Tunis rounding out the top five.

Nick Davis pulled in the pits running third on lap 16 and Amanda Whaley salvaged a solid points night in Ross Robinson’s No.7 after mechanical failure in hot laps.

For the second, S. R. Pete and Son Super Late Model feature event Donald Lingo, Jr., ended his year long drought and held off hard charging Mark Pettyjohn to win the feature event. “We did not get a win all last year and thought this year would get better, but it had just got worse, reflected Lingo on his recent misfortunes.

Lingo immediately went to work on Kevin Scott, Jr., after making tremendous repairs after the first feature event that put Lingo on the hook. By lap five, Lingo secured the lead with Amanda Whaley on the move from the 15th starting position. Whaley could not make the call for the qualifying event to make the invert due to mechanical issues.

By halfway, Lingo led the field with Whaley reeling him in, following by Scott, Ricky Elliott, and Dylan Evans.

With five to go, Whaley’s hard work would go up in smoke as a left rear tire exploded on the No. 4 machine, ending her hopes to overtake the top position.

On the restart, all eyes were on the No. 8Ball, as Mark Pettyjohnwent to the outside of Evans and Elliott to take over the second position. Pettyjohn was hot and heavy on the outside with two laps to run down race leader, Lingo.

Pettyjohn would carry a ton of speed, but not overcome Lingo to take his first win of the season.

Matt “The Thrill Hill put on a show in the closing laps of the 15-lap RUSH Late Model feature event, venturing to the top of the race track and passing the competition to win.

It was rookie, Chace Biron who was turning heads, as the young racer won his heat race and took the lead on lap one of the main event. Biron would maintain the lead until lap 12 when Hill took over the position.

A last lap caution would bring out a green, white, checkered, but Hill remained unchallenged by Biron, Sparky White, Billy Thompson, and Joe Warren.

Ross Robinson fought off the challenges to win another vintage feature event in the iconic, Mark “Coot Williams, No. 26. Robinson took the lead on the backstretch of the first lap but was spun out in turns three and four. Robinson went the rear and battled back to the lead by lap three. Robinson ultimately won with no brakes and a left rear flat tire. LJ Walbert won the sportsman event at a young 16 years old.
