KERRY KING ENDS 11 YEAR DROUGHT WITH SLM WIN

The 20-lap S.R. Pete & Sons Super Late Model feature was a thriller. Joe Warren in his small block Ford held the top spot for the first two circuits before the “Hometown Hero Kerry King shot on top. King had been very fast from the time he hit the track for hot laps and quickly built a lead.

Donald Lingo, Jr. charged into second with Ricky Elliott following into third. The only yellow of the event flew on lap eight when Nick Davis slowed to a stop. On the restart Herb Tunis got by Warren for fourth.

With five to go King was working lapped traffic to perfection. He would maintain his advantage to the checkered where he crossed .408 seconds ahead of Lingo to become the eighth different winner this season. Elliott held on for third with Tunis fourth and Warren fifth. The heat was won by Warren.

“I haven’t been here since 2005, said King. “I’m still having problems with over heating but I wasn’t going to back off tonight.
