ROWDY ANDREW MULLINS DRIVES NEW CAR TO 2ND WIN IN LATE MODELS
In the S.R. Pete & Sons Super Late Model 20-lap feature, Donald Lingo, Jr. got around before the first lap was complete to bring out the yellow. On the restart Eddie Drury, III spun and it wasn’t until the third attempt that the first lap would get in. When it finally did it was defending champion Andrew Mullins speeding from fourth into the lead.
Nick Davis moved by Joe Warren for second but Mullins had already built a considerable lead. Ricky Elliott was on the move from his ninth starting spot and dropped Davis to third on lap six. At the halfway sign the top five were Mullins, Elliott, Davis, Dylan Evans and Amanda Whaley.
On the next lap Mullins nearly had his hopes of winning dashed when a car he was overtaking slowed. Mullins was able to get on the brakes and avoid the tangle. In the closing laps Mullins was able to open a full straightaway lead over Elliott and picked up his second checkered of the season. Elliott, Davis, Evans and Whaley finished out the top five. Heats were won by Mullins and Lingo, Jr.
“This is a brand new car and it was great, said Mullins. “We didn’t change a thing after the heat and I was glad to see that they didn’t work the track.
