ELLIOTT ESCAPES FIRST LAP TANGLE TO WIN 4TH OF SEASON IN SUPER LATES
The 20-lap S.R. Pete & Sons Super Late Model feature got off to a wild start as seven of the 11 starters tangled in the first turn including; Donald Lingo, Jr.; Andrew Mullins; Herb Tunis; Staci Warrington; Ricky Elliott, Amanda Whaley and Dylan Evans. On the restart, Nick Davis pulled by Kellie Lewis to take the lead with Ross Robinson following into second and Elliott charging through the field to third.
Elliott continued his charge by Robinson on the next circuit then pulled past Davis to lead lap three. Once out front Elliott worked the high groove to perfection and opened a half track lead over Davis. Whaley worked her way back into fourth and Warrington made repairs and returned to climb to fifth.
At the checkered it was Elliott claiming his fourth win of the season and lapping all but the top six cars. Davis finished a distant second followed by Robinson, Whaley and Warrington in the top five. Heats were won by Whaley and Davis. In victory lane Elliott gave a lot of credit to his crew. The team was forced to go to a backup car after breaking a drive shaft in hot laps.
