HUBBARD GOES FLAT - ELLIOTT DEFENDS TITLE IN SUPER LATES

In the 25-lap S.R. Pete & Sons Super Late Model feature it looked like Ricky Elliott would have his work cut out for him if his was going to defending his Camp Barnes win of a year ago. Austin Hubbard and Elliott split the heat wins and started in the first to positions in the feature. Hubbard was quick from the drop of the green and quickly opened a four car length advantage over Elliott.

Nick Davis was behind the wheel of his brand new car and was running strong in the third spot with defending point champion Andrew Mullins holding down fourth and Donald Lingo, Jr. running fifth.

The race stayed green through the halfway point at which time Elliott began to pressure Hubbard for the lead. Cautions would keep the field bunched and with five to go it became evident that Hubbard had a problem. The final caution was out with four to go and it was visible that Hubbard’s right front tire was going flat.

Elliott grabbed the lead on the restart as Hubbard slowed and headed to the pits. It was a $3100 payday for Elliott who successfully defended his title. Mullins made a nice drive in the later stages to stay within striking distance and finish in second and Davis ended a strong third. Fourth went to Lingo, Jr. who won a race long battle with Dylan Evans who finished in fifth.
