STACI WARRINGTON HAS PERFET NIGHT IN SUPER LATES
It was obvious from the drop of the green the Staci Warrington was on a mission in the 20—lap S.R. Pete & Sons Super Late Model feature. Warrington started in the third spot and traded paint with pole sitter Kellie Lewis down the front straight before taking the lead going into the first turn.
Once out front Warrington began working the top groove to perfection as Herb Tunis followed in second. The first of two cautions came out on lap four when Nick Davis pancaked the wall coming off of turn four. Davis was able to limp to the pits but would not return.
Warrington resumed her dominating performance on the restart as Kerry King, Jr. regained second from Tunis. By halfway, Warrington was comfortably out front with Tunis back in second. Donald Lingo, jr. was up to the third spot with Ricky Elliott in fourth and King, Jr. back to fifth.
The second and final caution flew with just five laps to go when Elliott slowed coming off the fourth turn and coasted to a stop at the end of the front straight. Warrington never lost her rhythm and maintained a two second margin over Tunis. The “Wild Child Amanda Whaley grabbed the fourth spot on the restart. Warrington had the crowd on their feet as she powered to her first win of the season with Tunis second and Lingo, Jr. third. Whaley would finish in the fourth spot and King, Jr. rounded out the top five. Heats were won by King, Jr. and Warrington.
