DONALD LINGO, JR AND FORD POWER WIN IN SUPER LATES
The S.R. Pete & Son Super Late Models provided plenty of action Saturday night in their 20-lap feature. A tangle on the first lap sent Herb Tunis, Nick Davis, Dylan Evans and Ricky Elliott to the rear of the field. Brandon Dennis jumped out to the early lead with Staci Warrington chasing in second and Donald Lingo, Jr. running in third.
Lingo got by Warrington for second on lap five. Dennis slipped high on the next lap and Lingo shot by for the lead. The yellow as out on lap 11 when Kellie Lewis was being overtaken on the back straight by a three car battle for third. Andrew Mullins made contact with Lewis who bounced off the back wall to bring out the yellow while Mullins headed to the pits with damage.
Herb Tunis was up to third behind Lingo and Dennis as Elliott, who had come from the rear of the field, began to challenge in fourth. Elliott would get by both Tunis and Dennis but the caution would be out before the lap was complete forcing him to restart back in fourth.
The field took the white flag but Davis and Joe Warren tangled in the first turn setting up a one lap dash for the win. Lingo remained perfect as he drove to the checkered for his first win of the season. “These wins come harder and harder the older I get,� said Lingo. Brandon posted his best finish in second with Tunis holding off Elliott to finish in third. Evans recovered from the first lap tangle to round out the top five. Heats were won by Lingo and Davis.
