MIKE WHARTON USES TRAFFIC TO GET HIS 2nd CRATE MODEL WIN OF 2012
The 15-lap Crate Model feature was equally exciting. The first incident of the race happened on the first lap when pole sitter, Clint Chalabala and second place starter, Matt Hill tangled in the second turn. This put last week’s winner, Reese Masiello on the point and he took off like a shot on the restart.
Mike Wharton and Dylan Evans battled for the second spot with Sparky White and Matt Glanden running in the top five. The second and final yellow was out on lap five. Once again Masiello took off building a lead. Masiello got out of shape with four to go and Wharton pulled to his bumper.
With one to go the leaders caught lapped traffic. Masiello got pinned behind the lapper car by Wharton and Wharton was able to take the lead on the final lap and post his second win of the season. Masiello finished a strong second with Evans third. Fourth went to White and Glanden rounded out the top five. Fast time was set by Glanden in qualifying.
