DONALD LINGO, JR. GETS 2ND WIN IN SUPER LATE MODELS

In Saturday night’s 20-lap Super Late Model feature at DIS, Donald Lingo, Jr. was in the right place when leader Mark Byram made a bobble and grabbed the lead and his second win of the season.

With the six car inversion draw from the heats, Byram was able to start on the point and took off in search of his third win of the season. Kerry King was in top form and ran hard in second with Lingo, Jr. in third. It was a fast top five pack as Andrew Mullins powered into fourth with Ricky Elliott running in fifth.

The first yellow didn’t come until halfway and on the restart, Lingo, Jr. was able to get around King for second. Going into the fourth turn with six to go, Byram missed his line and slipped high allowing Lingo, Jr. to shoot by on the bottom.

Two more yellows would keep the field tightly bunched as Elliott got by Mullis and went to work on King. Lingo, Jr. was able to open some breathing room and drove to the win with Byram second and King turning in one of his best ever performances holding off Elliott to finish in third. Mullins was able to hold off a late race challenge by David Hill to round out the top five. Heats were won by Kevin Scott and Elliott.
