BRANDON DENNIS SCORES 1ST WIN OF SEASON IN MOD LITES
The 15-lap Mod Lite feature was a very competitive affair. Defending four-time point champion, Brandon Dennis set fast time in qualifying and with a “zero inversion draw started on the pole. Dennis was looking for his first win of the season but four time winner this season, James Hill, had other ideas.
Hill started in the second spot and kept the pressure on the leader until lap six when he drove by in the lead. Jimmy Wills was running a tight third and watching for any mistakes that he could take advantage. Just when it seemed that Hill was headed for his fifth win, the car got out from under him in the fourth turn and he spun down to the apron with just four laps to go.
Dennis was back on top but it was Wills that he now had to worry with. On the final lap, Wills got a good run coming off the second turn and edged past Dennis going into three. He may have carried a little too much speed into the turn as he slipped high leaving the bottom open to Dennis. Dennis took advantage of the slip and beat Wills back to the checkered by half a car length. Ray Gulliver started sixth and finished in third with Landis Musser fourth and Brandon Sturgis fifth.
