DONALD LINGO, JR. 10TH DIFFERENT WINNER IN SUPER LATES
Defending Super Late Model point champion, Donald Lingo, Jr. ended his season long drought as he picked up his first win in the 20-lap Super Late Model feature. Lingo became the 10th different winner in the division this season.
Mark Pettyjohn powered by Staci Warrington and Lou Johnson to lead the first lap of the feature. Donald Lingo, Jr. wasted no time coming from his fifth starting spot to second. Lingo was on a mission as he quickly caught Pettyjohn then took the lead in the fourth turn for lap three.
Richard Jarvis, Jr. was on a charge taking second from Pettyohn on lap five. At the halfway sign the top five were Lingo, Jr., Jarvis, Jr., Mark Pettyjohn, Kerry King and Kevin Scott, Jr.
The third and final yellow flew on lap 13 as Mark Pettyjohn came to a stop. Lingo was able to open an eight tenth of a second lead over Jarvis that he held for the final five laps to take the win. Jarvis finished in the second spot with King third. Fourth went to Scott, Jr. and Warrington rounded out the top five.
“The first four weeks I think were the worst start that we have had here in five of six year,� said Lingo. “After that we have just been straight embarrassed. We couldn’t get anything going in our direction. Tonight I thought that I was going to give it away on the cushion down there. It feels good – finally!�
Heats were won by Jarvis, Jr. and Andrew Mullins.
