Hovden and Gavin Shaw Top B-Mods at Spring Challenge

Spring Valley, MN (May 25)

By: Todd Narveson

Thursday night kicked off the LRS Waste Services Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge at Deer Creek Speedway. Orchard Creek Transportation along with Randy & Sandy Norby and Bill & Brenda Weber supported the show.

The Kid’s Dreams Come True USRA B-Mods were the support class for the USMTS Modifieds at this event. Forty-three B-Mods turned out and racers earned passing points in their heats. They were then split into two features with odd passing point finishers in the first feature and even finishers into the second feature.

In the first 18-lap feature, Dan Hovden charged from the eleventh spot to win his fourth feature event of this young season. Hunter Kennedy had a strong run in second while Joe Chisholm drove from row five to finish in third.

Taylor Skauge finished in the fourth spot. Last week’s winner at Deer Creek, Garitt Wytaske would round out the top five.

In feature number two it was Gavin Shaw who picked up his first win at Deer Creek and his second career win. Spencer Stock raced from row eight to finish in second while Dennis Dunbar had a nice run in third.

Harley Dais was another hard-charger in this race, Dais started 14th and got all the way up to fourth. Dylan Goettl would finish out the top five.
