Berry Wins First Dacotah Speedway Victory
It was a three wide battle for the lead in the IMCA Modified feature. Pole sitter Darrell Parsons, Travis Ulmer and Tim Perkins went three wide into corners one and two. Ulmer shuffled into the lead as John Corell passed Parsons for third. An early caution allowed Tom Berry Jr to slip by Corell and Parsons before yet another caution regrouped the field. On the restart, Ulmer, Perkins and Berry went three wide for the lead. Contact among the leaders bumped Perkins out of the top five as Berry grabbed the lead. As the laps wound down, Ulmer started to fade through the field losing positions to Corell, Shawn Strand and Jeremy Keller. As Tom Berry pulled away, Strand started to close in on second place Corell. Strand, the fastest car on track, passed Corell and was closing in on Berry. As Berry struggled to maneuver around slower cars, Strand was all over his rear bumper. But Berry used lapped traffic to his advantage and held on to win his first Dacotah Speedway feature victory. Shawn Strand finished a close second while John Corell finished ahead of Mark Dahl. Defending track champion, Jeremy Keller, rounded out the top five in the fifth position.
