(Warrensburg, Missouri) Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) has cancelled all month of April activities at the speedway due to the continued COVID-19 virus situation. Owners and Promoters Earl and Susan Walls recently stated, “We must cancel all April activities at the speedway. We will continue to follow CDC and local guidelines regarding the COVID situation and make another decision at the end of April for going forward.”
Johnson County Missouri recently issued a “Stay at Home” order effective April 1, 2020 through April 30, 2020. Since our last press release in mid-March, the COVID-19 situation has continued to grip the nation and CMS strongly encourages race fans to follow their local guidelines regarding social distancing and safety.
As previously announced, Earl Walls reiterated his original statement, “We intend to follow the guidelines of state, county, and local officials and if it is possible to open and run, we will. However, these suggestions will determine what we do as the safety and well-being of attendees is our number one priority. When the time comes to re-open the track, we will be ready!”
Susan Walls has continued to work towards opening day from the safety of her home by ordering and arranging for supplies to be ready to go once the track is able to open for the season. In addition, she continues to build the sponsor partners for the season. Various types of sponsorship are available, including large signage at the track, website and social media presence, weekly printed driver’s sheet and PR announcements at the track, car class sponsors, special event sponsors, and race night partners.
