Night 3 of the USA Nationals
The BAR31 Team had a tall task on Saturday night to get into the 100-lap, $50,000 to win USA Nationals race at Cedar Lake Speedway. Drivers earned points from the events held on Thursday and Friday evening. The top 16 drivers in points were guaranteed a spot in the feature; all others had to compete in one of two Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ). After the first two nights, Kye was 22nd in points, which started him in the 3rd position of the 2nd LCQ.
Kye lined up behind Kyle Bronson and Ethan Dotson, and had Ashton Winger beside him. Blight and Winger traded several slide jobs. Kye got settled in and after battling Dustin Sorensen for position, he took the checkered in 3rd place – good enough to transfer him into the A-main.
In the feature race, The BAR31 Team entry started in 22nd position. Surrounded by the best teams and drivers, Kye made some good progress in the early laps. By lap 10, he was up to 14th place. Several cautions and a quick pit stop during one of those cautions got Kye down a lap, but he was able to finish with a 19th place finish.
The BAR31 Team would like to thank Rocket Chassis, Durham Racing Engines, Sunoco Race Fuels, Accu-Force Dynos and Testers and My Race Pass.
Next up for Paul, Kye and the team will be the North/South 100 at Florence Speedway, August 10-12.
