Inside Line Promotions – NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (July 8, 2019) – Kerry Madsen registered his third podium finish of the season with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series last Saturday during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.

The KI Crossbows sponsored driver guided Big Game Motorsports to the 12th quickest qualifying lap before charging from fourth to second place in a heat race on Friday. Madsen placed fifth in the dash to start fifth in the A Main, which was postponed to Saturday after rain invaded the track.

“We did what we needed to do to get into the dash,” he said. “We drew at the back of the dash, which is normal. We weren’t great at the start of the feature. The rain came and it was a completely different track the next day. The first couple of laps I lost a couple of spots. I got the elbows up and put the wing back and we made good progress.”

Madsen rallied in the closing stage, throwing a slide job on Donny Schatz for the runner-up position. Schatz got the position back and Madsen finished third.

“I got more confidence in it and was driving better,” he said. “I passed Donny for second at the end, but gave the spot back. It was a good run.”

Madsen capped the night with another solid effort at Cedar Lake Speedway. He qualified ninth quickest and placed third in a heat race before ending eighth in the main event.

“I was a little disappointed with that,” he said. “We had a really good car at the end of the race, but the track took rubber. I got held up in the early stage and by the time I got by a driver the leaders had built up a lot of ground. Then it took rubber.”

Madsen opened the week by making his debut at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D., during the Star Spangled Showdown. He qualified 18th quickest, finished sixth in a heat race and closed the night with a 12th-place result in the feature.

“We qualified terrible, but in the A Main I came up really good,” he said. “I was up to around 10th when on a restart I spun out trying to pass a car. I had to go back to the back. We were really making some ground and would have had a nice finish. Then the track took rubber at the end. I got back to 12th.”

Madsen will venture to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, this Saturday.
