Inside Line Promotions – BILLINGS, Mont. (July 7, 2016) – Texan Travis Rilat will head to Montana next week for the opening doubleheader of the NSA Shootout.
Rilat, who hails from Forney, Texas, will team up with car owner Richard Saumure of Canada to invade Billings Motorsports Park on July 15-16 with the opening round paying $2,000 to win and the finale $7,500 to win and $500 to start.
“I always love going to Montana,” Rilat said. “We have a pretty good track record in that state.”
Rilat and Saumure competed in a trio of doubleheaders in Montana last season with the duo scoring a victory during each weekend with top-five finishes in the other race each time. The team’s average finish in the six races was 1.83.
The duo finished with two wins, a second place and a fourth place during four races at Billings Motorsports Park last season and they hope to take that consistency into a big paying show next week.
“It’s great what Mike Quigley and everyone at Billings Motorsports Park is doing by creating an event like the NSA Shootout,” Rilat said. “We want to support promoters and tracks that are forward thinking and have the focus on creating fun events for the race teams and the fans.”
Rilat said he and Saumure also plan on competing in the two other NSA Shootout doubleheaders – Aug. 26-27 at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, during the 61st annual Gold Cup and Sept. 9-10 at Billings Motorsports Park.
Rilat is a prime candidate to capitalize on a bonus system during the NSA Shootout. Any driver who wins three of the six NSA Shootout main events will receive a $1,000 bonus. Four A Main victories nets a $1,500 bonus with five triumphs providing a $2,000 bonus. Sweeping all six races is worth an extra $2,500.
A points fund for the six-race series is also in the works.
