Boland, Key and Zorn Post Lucas Oil NOW600 Series Triumphs at Caney Valley Speedway
Inside Line Promotions – CANEY, Kan. (Oct. 16, 2020) – Johnny Boland, Noah Key and Trey Zorn each captured their first Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division victory of the season on Friday evening during the opening round of the Border-Town Throwdown hosted by Caney Valley Speedway.
Boland won the Stock Non-Wing main event to record his first career national score in the division while Key (Winged ‘A’ Class) and Zorn (Restricted ‘A’ Class) both picked up their first-ever national triumph.
Boland advanced from fourth and held off fifth-starting Kenton Brewer to become the 14th different Stock Non-Wing winner this season. Timothy Watson III finished third with Austin Lambert fourth and points leader Bradley Fezard fifth.
Chase Spicola and Brewer were the heat race winners.
Key outlasted NOW600 Series winningest driver Frank Flud for the Winged ‘A’ Class main event win. Brewer placed third with Boland fourth and Zorn fifth.
Flud and Zorn were victorious during the heat races.
Zorn maneuvered from the fourth starting position to come out on top of the Restricted ‘A’ Class feature. Talin Turner recorded a runner-up result with points leader Jade Avedisian rounding out the podium. Gaige Weldon was fourth and Tyler Kuykendall fifth.
Garrett Benson and Avedisian won the two heat races.
The Border-Town Throwdown concludes on Saturday. The pits open at 2:30 p.m. and the pill draw runs from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The drivers meeting is set for 4:45 p.m. Hot laps kick off the action at 5:15 p.m. and racing follows.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Children 12-years-old and younger get in free. Pit passes are $30.
