$1 ADMISSION-FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS A BUSY WEEKEND AT CAN-AM FIREFIGHTER/EMS, SPCA AND CROWING OF THE POINT CHAMPIONS BATTLE OF THE BORDER

The Can-Am Speedway has a busy Labor Day weekend planned for race fans.  The action will get started on Friday night when the Jefferson County SPCA will be on hand when the gates open at 5:00.  SPCA representatives will be set up at the speedway with some of their great animals, talking with the fans when they arrive and accepting donations for their great organization.  It will also be fan appreciation night, track owner Tyler Bartlett wants to thank all the fans for their support over the past two seasons with a special $1 admission night.  Speedway management expects a number of Fire Departments to be on hand to help celebrate Firefighter/EMS Night at the speedway.  Last season was a huge success with hundreds of Firefighters and EMS workers in attendance enjoying a night at the races.  During intermission, all the fire departments will take part in a parade of trucks around the race track with horns blowing and sirens blaring.  The highlight of the night will be the crowing of the 2019 Track Champions.  Ryan Arbuthnot, Taylor Caprara, Shawn Kirby, and Zac Petrie will come into the night leading their respective divisions.  Arbuthnot needs a 9th place or better finish to lock up his 1st Whitesboro Plow Shop-DIRTcar 358 Modified Championship.  Caprara only has a 4 point advantage over his closest challenger Jackson Gill.  With 4 points being the difference, Caprara needs to keep Gill in his sights at the finish to have a chance of grabbing the top spot in the FX Caprara Honda-DIRTcar Sportsman.  The FABCO-Pro Street division will come down to a family affair between Rick Dusckas and son, Shawn Kirby.  Kirby holds a slim 8 point advantage which is well within reach for Dusckas.  Kirby will need a solid night to win another Track Championship.  Petrie comes in with the least amount of pressure.  All he has to do is make an attempt to qualify for the TLC Real Estate/Agent Marsha Gibbons-Thunder Stock race.  The action will continue on Saturday night with the final go-kart event of 2019.  All 14 weekly classes will be in action to help close out a very successful season.  The Pro Clone Medium drivers will be racing for $1000 to win while the Pro Clone Heavy winner will take home $500.  Racing on Friday night will be sponsored by Sundance Leisure and North Star Realty while FX Caprara Honda and FX Caprara Dodge Chrysler in Alexandria Bay will be sponsoring the kart racing on Saturday night.  Gate will open Friday at 5:00 with $1 general admission with racing getting the green flag at 7:30.  Saturday’s race action will get the green at 6:00 with free admission to the grandstand area.  Follow us on Facebook at Can-Am Speedway or call the speedway at 315-876-3478.
