Pair of fifth-place finishes in Bristol Bash

Brandon Overton was one of 29 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries invited to Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon for the two-day Bristol Bash. Taking the Top 4 from heat races, Overton came one spot shy with a fifth-place outing, transferring him into the B-Main. Coming in fourth, Brandon locked into the 20th-starting position for the opening night feature. With $5,000 on the line, Overton advanced through the field 15 spots to register a fifth-place finish, trailing Josh Richards, Chris Madden, Brandon Sheppard, and Rick Eckert to the checkers. After Saturday evening’s program was postponed to Sunday afternoon, Brandon set the pace in time trials with a 15.966-second lap before placing second in his heat behind Rick Eckert. Receiving the fifth-starting position for the $25,000-to-win Bristol Bash via the redraw, Overton held his spot for the entire distance of the 40-lapper to place fourth. He followed Devin Moran, Ricky Weiss, Ross Bailes, and Ricky Thornton Jr. across the line.
