Brayden Fox Picks Up Win Number 2 At The Red Clay In Dramatic Fashion
The 410 Non Wing Sprints had 17 entries. The 2 fast times in their groups were Braxton Cummings 13.148 and Jordan Kinser 12.850. This setup the 2 heat races with an invert of 3. Heat race 1 had Jake Swanson taking the heat win over Braxton Cummings, Hunter Maddox and Jadon Rogers. Heat race 2 had Brayden Fox win it from the pole over Jordan Kinser, Harley Burns and Weston Gorum. This setup the A main and the invert was a 2. This put Brayden Fox and Jake Swanson on the front row and this would be one of the best races of the year for the fans to see. Brayden took the early lead and the moisture in the track was still there because they were turning some times better than qualifying. Brayden looked very strong but Jake Swanson was right there behind him just waiting for a chance at the front spot. Brayden got caught up with lapped traffic and started to pick them off. Jake was then close enough to make a move to the top spot while they were battling for the lead and trying to get the lapped cars just right. This race was just about to get wild. The top 4 would now be in heavy lapped traffic and the lead was shrinking. Lapped traffic was low and high and Jake was doing a good job but the 53 got him back on the high side for the lead and most of the crowd was standing up by then because each corner they were inches away from each other. A caution came out with just 3 to go so the lapped cars would go to the back and we would have a 3 lap shootout. Could Jake make another mover and take over is what the fans were wondering. On the final restart Brayden was locked down and hitting his marks just right on the lower side that was still wicked fast. Brayden took his 2nd big win at Bloomington Speedway and held off Usac star Jake Swanson, Jordan Kinser, Jadon Rogers and Braxton Cummings. After that 25 laps all we could say is WOW and take a deep breath because it was intense throughout the entire field.
The UMP Modifieds had 11 entries and the 2 fast times were Logan Mounce 14.683 and Caleb Demoss 14.687. The invert for the heat was a 4. Heat race 1 was won by Derek Groomer over Logan Mounce, John Demoss and Tyler Loughmiller. Heat race 2 was won by Jacoby Hines over Ben Harmon, Caleb Demoss and Steve Haefke. This setup their 20 lap A main with an invert of 1 which put Derek Groomer and Jacoby Hines on the front row. These 2 have had many great battles for many years at Bloomington Speedway and this would be another great one. Derek took the early lead and they were setting a very fast pace just as fast as qualifying was. Jacoby was able to take over the lead before the halfway point and looked very strong after he got the lead. Jacoby would hit his marks the 2nd half of the race after he took the lead and he would pick up the big win. Following Jacoby Hines at the finish it was Derek Groomer, Ben Harmon, John Demoss and Caleb Demoss.
The UMP Super Stocks had 9 entries and the 2 fast times were Zach Sasser 15.124 and Matt Boknecht 14.709. The heat race invert was a 3. Heat race 1 Zach Sasser was able to come from 3rd to the front and get the win over Wade Goodale and Josh Litton. Heat race 2 Jordan Almanza held on for the win over Matt Boknecht and Trey Chastain. This setup the A main and we had an invert of 4 which put Matt Boknecht and Wade Goodale on the front row. Putting the #1 car of Boknecht on the pole would be trouble for the rest of the field. Matt Boknecht would lead every lap and would grow his lead almost a full straightaway. He took the 20 lap win over Jordan Almanza, Josh Litton, Zach Sasser and Wade Goodale.
The UMP Hornets had 11 entries and their night started off with the makeup feature from a rainout earlier in the season. Alex Wilson was able to win the 15 lap makeup feature and he held off Jeremy Shemwell and Dale Hobbs for the win. The regular night started off with Alex Wilson also winning heat 1 over Dale Hobbs and Landon Hayes. Heat race 2 was won by AJ Hobbs who held off Jeremy Shemwell and Shane Reed. This setup the A main and the invert spin was a 3 so that put Dale Hobbs and AJ Hobbs on the front row. This would be an all out battle as the top 4 went double side by side for multiple laps battling for the top spot. This would last most of the race as the hornets were showing how even they are at the front. AJ Hobbs for the final 2 laps would hold them off for the big win. Following AJ at the finish was a real close battle with Alex Wilson, Dale Hobbs, Skyler Ashley and Jeremy Shemwell making up the top 5. Thanks to all the teams and fans who came out Friday for a good show and we will see you again at the red clay July 14th for a great show.
