Brady Short Gets Back To Victory Lane At Bloomington Speedway

The 410 non wing heroes had 19 entries Friday at Bloomington and the 3 fast groups were led by Jadon Rogers 12.117, Charles Davis Jr. 11.706 and Sterling Cling 11.712. This setup the 3 heats and the wheel spin for the invert was a 3. Heat race 1 was won by Nick Bilbee in his first attempt this year at the red clay over Brandon Spencer and Jadon Rogers. Heat race 2 was won by Charles Davis Jr. from 3rd over Cody Trammell and Andy Bradley. The final heat was a wild one as Brady Short had to pull off during qualiyfying so he had to start on the tail of the heat. Sure enough Brady came from 6th to win the heat over Harley Burns and Brayden Fox. This setup the 25 lap A main as we were dodging rain the whole night so far. The wheel spin for the feature was a 6 which put Harley Burns and Cody Trammell on the front row. Early in the A main Harley jumped out to the lead running the bottom on the tires. Harley was able to build a decent lead but 2 drivers were coming to the front quickly and that was Brady Short and Cody Trammell. With Harley on the bottom Brady was trying the middle and the top groove and it was working he was closing in on the lead. Jadon Rogers was also ripping the top trying to make his moves also. Brady got the middle to work and he took the lead from Harley for the top spot. A scary incident happened with Jordan Kinser in the 04 Burton car had a bad flip over turn 1 after making contact. Thankfully Jordan climbed out of the car okay. Hopefully they can rebuild before the 10 grand Josh Burton Memorial which we all cherish!! Brady on the restart was able to keep command of the top spot and would pick up a big win at Bloomington. Following Brady at the checkers it was Harley Burns with a strong run in 2nd with Nick Bilbee, Jadon Rogers and Charles Davis Jr. rounding out the top 5.
The Ump Super Stocks had 13 entries but they were a lot of the best in the business. The quick times were led by Matt Boknecht 14.042 and Derek Groomer 13.759. This setup the 2 heats with a wheel spin invert of a 4. Heat race 1 was won by Greg Amick over Cale Kern and Josh Litton. The 2nd heat was won by Zach Sasser over Hayden Groomer and Jordan Almanza. This setup the A main with a wheel spin of 2. That put Greg Amick and Zach Sasser on the fornt row for the feature. At the start of the race Greg and Zach had a great battle but while they were battling it out Matt Boknecht was rolling to the front from 7th. Matt was really strong wherever he put his car and took over the lead. Matt Boknecht would hold on for his 2nd win over Zach Sasser, Josh Litton, Greg Amick and Cale Kern.
The IMCA Racesaver 305's had 20 entries and their groups were led by Jordan Welch 11.362, Bradley Sterrett 11.352 and Ryan Tusing 11.557. The invert spin was a 3. Jordan Welch on heat 1 looked strong again and came from 3rd to win it over Keith Langley and John Paynter Jr. Heat race 2 Rod Henning showed his speed as he was turning times just as fast as qualifying and would win the heat over Carson Dillion and Bradley Sterrett. The final heat went to Ryan Tusing as he came from 3rd also to win the heat over Justin Matthews and Bryce Norris. After the Super Stock feature the skies opened up so the 305's will have a date announced soon which night they will run double features.
The UMP Hornets had 14 entries. Heat 1 was won by a strong run for Michael Brewer over Jeremy Shemwell and Alex Wilson. Heat race 2 AJ Hobbs won it from the pole over Shane Reed and Warren Hopkins. Their feature also rained out so they will have a night of double features also.
Thanks to all the teams who came out Friday and put on a show while we were dodging the rain drops most of the night. This Friday night at Bloomington Speedway is another awesome show for the Josh Burton Memorial. MSCS will be there and it is 10 grand to win with 500 to start. Any sprint not making the show will go to a 2nd feature paying 500 to win and now 404 to start from a generous sponsor for the night. Also UMP mods will be 1 grand to win along with the UMP Super Stocks. MMSA is the 4th class adding to an awesome night to honor Josh for sure. We will see you all on Friday night to fill the hill at the red clay for our favorite 04 hero Josh Burton.
