Fireworks and Kid's Bike Races Share Headline for JB Robinson Memorial

Independence Day Fireworks, Kid’s Bike Races and the JB Robinson Memorial Headline Busy Bloomington Program

Bloomington, Indiana – Although the annual 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza fell victim to the weather six weeks ago, Bloomington Speedway has added them to Friday night’s racing program. Similarly, the JB Robinson Memorial was rained out at the beginning of the year, and with the Back-to-School Kids Bicycle Races included, it will be a busy night at the historic quarter-mile oval.

The racing action will feature Bloomington’s highly competitive UMP Modifieds in an AMS point event, the Davis Automotive Super Stocks, joined by the Hornets and Pure Stocks, all running heat races and feature events. Jacoby Hines is coming off a strong victory in the modifieds last week, trailed closely by Bradley Sterrett and Roy Bruce. Jamey Wilson is the latest winner in the super stocks, ahead of Steve Peden and Aubrey Eagan.

The spectacular fireworks program, which has been a traditional part of Bloomington’s summers for many decades, will begin at dusk. The Back-to-School Kids Bicycle Races will group youngsters 5 through 16 years into five age groups for five races. Trophies will be awarded for each event.

Bloomington Speedway is pleased to once again pay tribute to JB Robinson, a Bloomington native and businessman, who was a strong supporter of local racing for many decades.

With the fireworks, bicycle races and on track action, Bloomington Speedway continues to be one of the most affordable and exciting sports venues in the community. Friday’s ticket prices are just $15 for General Admission and kids 12 and under are admitted free with an adult general admission. Pit passes are $30. The General Admission gate opens at 5:30, pit gate at 4:30, hot laps start at 6:30 and racing at 7:30.

Bloomington Speedway is located south of Bloomington, Indiana, at 5185 S. Fairfax Rd. We can be contacted by phone 812-824-7400, email at bloomingtonspeed@bluemarble.net, and the Bloomington Speedway page on Facebook.
