Bald Tire Bash, Racing for Autism, Kids’ Backpack Night headline busy night Aug. 7 at The Bullring
VINTON, Iowa – Only three nights remain on the 2022 schedule for Benton County Speedway and each provide something extra.
Perhaps the biggest of the three nights is the August 7 program that, in addition to IMCA weekly racing, features Racing for Autism, Kids’ Backpack Night and the first of its kind Bald Tire Bash for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Vermedahl Logistics.
The draw/redraw Stock Car special, which will be IMCA sanctioned for State, Regional and National points, will require drivers competing in that division to run on used tires with a maximum tread depth of 5/32nds”.
The Bald Tire Bash pays $2,000 to win and earns the winner qualifying eligibility for the B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational.
Also racing for increased prize money August 7 are the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds presented by KISS Country 96.5. That draw/redraw event, which will award State, Regional and National points, pays $1,000 to the winner along with qualifying eligibility for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.
Weekly points racing, using the standard point average invert for lineups, will be held for the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company, Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts and INEX Legends presented by Legends.Direct.
SportMods will be competing for a $500 winner’s share, Hobby Stocks $400 to win and Sport Compacts and Legends each $250 to win.
The August 7 Racing for Autism night is being held in support of local Cedar Falls non-profit organization Every Piece Matters, which helps provide communication tools for the community to create an environment that is inclusive to those with diverse communication needs.
Every Piece Matters has supplied more than 250 communication boards for children to utilize on the playground and in the classroom.
Kids’ Backpack Night will round out a full slate that evening. The Lil’ Racer Car Club has been collecting supplies to give away to school aged children August 7. Last year’s giveaway provided more than 130 kids with backpacks and school supplies.
Door prize giveaways and raffles will also be part of the evening’s festivities.
Pits open at 3 p.m. and grandstand at 4. Hot laps are scheduled for 5:30 with racing to follow.
Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and veterans, and $5 for ages 6-14. Kids ages five and under are admitted free if accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $30.
