Chick to Compete in JEGS/CRA All Star Tour in 2017
Inside Line Promotions – DE SOTO, Kan. (April 25, 2017) – Mandy Chick, who is a rising star in the motor sports scene in the Midwest, is looking to take her talent to the next level in 2017.
Last year, Chick captured four top fives and 12 top 10s at I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., and she was awarded the Missouri State Rookie of the Year Award in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
The third-generation driver is taking another step forward this season when she will contend as a rookie on the JEGS/CRA All Star Tour.
“I’m not really sure what to expect this year with it being my first year on the tour and competing at all new and different tracks,” she said. “Our goals are about improving and seeing consistency throughout the year. A personal goal for myself is to improve on qualifying and to make all the races. Then we will start working on finishes. The JEGS/CRA All Stars Tour is highly competitive and I know I am capable of running up front with some experience. Getting into the top five by the end of the year would be huge for us.”
Additionally, the team has brought in Butch VanDoorn from VanDoorn Racing Development as a crew chief and spotter for several races this season.
“I’m glad to have Butch on board with us this season,” Chick said. “I’m looking forward to getting some good coaching and tips from him.”
VanDoorn is equally excited about the partnership.
“I had the opportunity to test with Mandy early in the year last season,” he said. “I knew right away that I was dealing with a fast learner and good listener. Being in the racing industry, as a consultant and a crew chief, what more could you ask for.”
Johnny VanDoorn, who runs VanDoorn Racing Development with his brother, Butch, added that he is impressed by Chick’s racing ability.
“Butch and I at VanDoorn Racing Development are very fortunate to be able to work with Mandy Chick and her team,” he said. “She is talented and she has a good head on her shoulders. It was a lot of fun last year watching her progress from being brand new to late models to winning the NASCAR Missouri State Rookie of the Year and competing for wins at I-44 Speedway. We are dedicated to working with Mandy and her team for many years to come.”
Chick will make her rookie season debut at Baer-Field Motorsports Park in Fort Wayne, Ind., this Saturday and Sunday.
