Inside Line Promotions – ATTICA, Ohio (April 18, 2018) – A last-lap incident in the feature race thwarted a promising 2018 opener for Rob Chaney and CH Motorsports on Friday night at Attica Raceway Park.

Chaney started 14th in the stout field and eventually began advancing toward the front of the field during the second half of the 30-lap race.

“We weren’t very good in the beginning,” he said. “But about halfway through we started going pretty good and eventually moved up to sixth. I was racing hard with a guy for that position on the last lap. Sometimes there’s contact in these cars and this time we were on the wrong end of it. We didn’t really hurt anything, just kind of slid off the track and didn’t make it to the finish.”

Chaney, who was credited with a 19th-place result, progressed throughout the night. It began with the team qualifying third quickest in its heat race group, which garnered the starting position on the outside of the front row for the heat race.

“I just didn’t do a very good job in our heat and we missed the redraw by finishing third,” he said. “I was in second for a bit, but just kind of gave it up. So that put us starting toward the back of the feature.”

Chaney was generally satisfied with the team’s overall performance and progress for their first race of the season.

“I felt okay,” he said. “In the feature I felt like I was running good laps and I didn’t make too many mistakes. We passed some really good cars. It was a really strong field. I think there were about 44 cars. Our car was getting better and better during the race, which is good news with the 40-lappers coming up.”

Chaney is also proud to announce a major event recently happened within his family.

“My son, Brayden, signed his letter of intent on Monday to run track at Ashland University,” he said. “I’m very proud of him and his dedication to succeed.”
