Boisclair Earns First Career Airborne Victory

PLATTSBURGH – David Boisclair had to thread the needle underneath Bucko Branham with two laps to go to collect his first career victory at Airborne Speedway in the J&S Steel Sportsman 30-lap feature event.

A lap-28 restart put Branham alongside Boisclair, who chose to restart from the inside lane. Branham nailed the restart from the outside, taking the lead in the first two turns. Branham maintained a half car length advantage, but couldn’t quite clear Boisclair down the backstretch and Boisclair drove his car in deep in turn three to drive past for the win.

Nick Heywood led the field down to the initial green flag and took a commanding lead. Heywood surrendered the lead on a lap-20 restart, when DJ Gonyo drove around on the outside. Gonyo’s lead was short lived, however, as Boisclair slipped under him a lap later. Boisclair’s only challenge the rest of the way was with Branham on lap-29.

Branham finished in the second spot, while Gonyo held on for third. Justin Severance and Jamy Begor completed the top five.

The Hartson Total Opening Renegades had a shake-up in the final finishing order, after post-race technical inspection. “Little” Joe Daniels appeared to be the third-place finisher on track, but was placed first after the top two drivers were disqualified.

Brothers Terry, both Tylor and Josh were placed second and third, respectively. Cam Gadue and Tyler Irwin complete the top five.

Mark Fewster collected his first career Limited Sportsman victory after rallying to get by Al Lajoice, who led most of the event. Lajoice held on for second, while Garrett Given completed the podium.

Nate Smart held off a late race challenge from Caleb Tourville to collect his first win of the season in the 4-cylinder division. Josh Blake, Clem Bell and Matt Parker completed the top five.

Racing action resumes next Saturday night with a 7 p.m. post time. All four of Airborne’s regular racing divisions will be in action.
