Perrotte Returns From Injury

PLATTSBURGH – Racing veteran, Mike Perrotte will be returning to action this Saturday night in the Egglefield Ford 358-Modified division at Airborne Park Speedway.

Perrotte has been dealing with an eye injury, in which he had several holes in his retina. This issue effected his eyesight and he could not return until it healed.

“I feel fine,” Perrotte said. “It never really hurt, just effected my vision.”

Just one season ago, the Plattsburgh native collected two wins and nine top five finishes while finishing second in the point standings in his familiar Huttig owned Adirondack Auto number 35 machine. In 1986 the pair claimed the 358-Modified title at Airborne and from there feature wins and championships continued to pile up.

“I’m very anxious to get back and race with the guys,” Perrotte explained. “I like racing on this track, it’s a lot of fun.”

In his 45th season behind the wheel, the racing schedule is nowhere near as intense as it used to be for Perrotte, but he notes that the process will remain the same. “My approach to returning will be the same as always. Get the car ready, get there, qualify, race and have some fun.”

Perrotte and the field of 358-Modifieds will do battle this weekend with double points on the line for Mid-Season Championships presented by Heald Funeral Home. The Poirier’s True Value Sportsman, Ernie’s Discount Tools Super Stocks, Mini-Mods and Strictly Stocks will all be in action for the 7 p.m. post time.
